White Castle has announced a new management team as construction progresses toward opening its new location in Clermont.

As anticipation builds for the grand opening of White Castle’s second freestanding Florida location in Clermont, the burger chain announced the promotion of two team members to leadership roles at the new Castle. Aaron Johnson was named general manager, and Jamel Figueroa was appointed assistant general manager.

Both Johnson and Figueroa have grown their careers over four years with the company. White Castle, a family-owned business since 1921, earned recent certification for the fifth year in a row by Great Place To Work, an award based entirely on what the company’s team members say about their experience working at White Castle.

The Clermont Castle, located at 4551 Collina Tce. in the Plaza Collina development, will bring 75 new jobs to Lake County and expand White Castle’s presence in Central Florida when it opens later this summer. Construction progresses at a steady pace, with illuminated signage recently installed on the Castle’s iconic tower.

“Aaron and Jamel are shining examples of the leadership potential that lives within our Castle teams,” said Francis Nation, operating partner in Orlando. “Their promotions reflect our dedication to investing in our team members’ growth and offering career advancement opportunities. We’re proud to see them take the helm as we prepare to introduce our craveable menu to even more Floridians.”

Johnson, who began his journey with White Castle as one of the Orlando Castle’s first team member hires in 2021, is thrilled to now serve as general manager of a brand-new location.

“I’m so excited about the Clermont Castle opening because it represents a new chapter in my White Castle career,” said Johnson. “I’ve experienced firsthand the power of a supportive and collaborative company culture, and I’m eager to lead this new team and community.”

When not leading Castle operations, Johnson enjoys traveling, spending time in nature and making memories with his family. His favorite craveable item is the Jalapeño Cheese Slider.

Figueroa shares a similar passion for leadership and team development.

“White Castle has given me a place to grow every day,” said Figueroa. “What excites me most about opening the Clermont Castle is the opportunity to help shape a new culture from the ground up and bring the Crave to a brand-new community of fans.”

Figueroa’s go-to menu item is the Original Slider with Cheese, a classic he calls “unbeatable.” Outside of work, he enjoys working out, gaming and spending time with friends and family.
