A Leesburg man was arrested when he was caught behind the wheel despite his license being revoked two years ago for habitual traffic offenses.
An officer was monitoring traffic near U.S. Hwy. 27/441 and Grizzard Street when he was passed by an Orange Ford Explorer traveling northbound around 12:15 a.m. Sunday, according to an arrest report from the Fruitland Park Police Department. He noticed the vehicle’s side windows were tinted with a very dark film, the report said.
As a result, the officer initiated a traffic stop on the vehicle and identified the driver as 37-year-old Jason Randall Foster, the report said. He stated he did not have his license with him at the time. The officer asked if his license was valid, and he replied, “I don’t know if they suspended it because of child support.”
The officer checked Foster’s driving status using a law enforcement database and learned his license had a total of 13 active suspensions and revocations. On Nov. 28, 2022, his driver’s license was revoked for 60 months due to him being a habitual traffic offender. He also had seven prior convictions for driving with a suspended license, the report said.
Based on the totality of the investigation, the officer determined Foster intentionally drove despite knowingly having a suspended license. He was subsequently placed under arrest, the report said.
The officer then took inventory of the Explorer’s contents, at which point a marijuana grinder was found in the center console. An unlabeled plastic bag containing suspected marijuana was located inside the pocket behind the front driver’s seat. These items were collected for destruction, the report said.
Foster was ultimately charged with driving while license suspended or revoked (habitual). He was transported to Lake County Jail and released after posting $5,000 bond.
