A Fruitland Park man was arrested for retail theft after stealing food and drinks from 7-Eleven on three occasions.
Officers were dispatched to 7-Eleven, located at 2058 U.S. Hwy. 27/441, regarding a subject committing retail thefts around 4:40 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 31, according to an arrest report from the Fruitland Park Police Department.
Upon arrival, the officers contacted the business owner who stated that a man, later identified as 41-year-old Kyle Loren Bagley, entered the gas station on three separate occasions, took merchandise and left without paying. The owner provided video surveillance footage that clearly showed Bagley stealing from the store, the report said.
On Dec. 25, 2024, Bagley entered the store, took three king-size Reese’s candy bars from the shelf and put them in what appeared to be his cargo pocket on his jeans. A short time later, he distracted the cashier and took a 12-inch sub sandwich by the counter to put in his backpack. He then bought a half gallon of chocolate milk but did not include the other items worth $15.91, the report said.
On Dec. 29, 2024, Bagley went into the store and took two packages of Munchies peanut butter crackers. He took a medium fountain drink cup, filled it and drank the contents four times before leaving the store. He bought a breakfast sandwich but did not pay for the other items, which totaled $7.27, the report said.
On Dec. 30, 2024, Bagley again went to the store, filled a small fountain cup with a beverage, took a banana and left. He stated something to the extent of “I paid for the drink with my phone, and the banana is free” as he left the store. The report noted there were no transactions for the $2.38 in items that happened at the time.
Bagley was subsequently arrested for three counts of retail theft. The Washington native was transported to Lake County Jail with bond set at $1,500.
