A Lake County man was pronounced dead at a local hospital after a two-vehicle crash.
The 42-year Umatilla man had been a passenger in a 2018 Honda Accord at about 3 p.m. Wednesday traveling westbound on County Road 42 at Penley Lane east of Altoona when the vehicle traveled into the path of a 2021 GMC Sierra pickup which was eastbound on County Road 42, according to an accident report from the Florida Highway Patrol.
The Umatilla man and the driver of the Honda Accord, a 42-year-old Umatilla woman, were transported to AdventHealth Waterman Hospital where he was pronounced dead. She suffered serious injuries.
The driver of the pickup, a 54-year-old Altoona man, was not injured and remained at the scene.
The crash remains under investigation.
