The Chancel Choir of First Presbyterian Church is preparing to perform at Carnegie Hall in New York City on Dec. 2.

Music Director Randy Frieling has been working on this performance for a year.

“It is an honor to be selected as part of the 250-voice choir that will be singing on the most famous stage in the United States. We will be singing Joseph Martin’s ‘A Weary World Rejoices’ accompanied by orchestra,” said Frieling.

Frieling has performed numerous times at Carnegie Hall as accompanist for the National Youth Choir.

“It is a privilege to be on the same stage where thousands of artists have performed since 1891,” said Frieling.

The Chancel Choir leaves on Thanksgiving Day. Although there is an intense schedule of rehearsals with Joseph Martin, there are also some excursions planned like seeing the Christmas show of the Rockettes.

They will present ‘A Weary World Rejoices’ during the worship service at the First Presbyterian Church of Mount Dora, located at 222 W. Sixth Ave., on Sunday, Dec. 8, at 10 a.m. All are welcome.
