A Lake County woman was at the wheel of a vehicle that fatally struck a teen bicyclist.
The 32-year-old Groveland woman was driving a 2013 Dodge Durango at 4:20 p.m. Thursday when her vehicle struck a bicyclist that was attempting to cross the road and crossed directly into her path in Brevard County, according to an accident report from the Florida Highway Patrol. The bicyclist, a 13-year-old Melbourne girl, was not a crosswalk, the report noted. She was transported by ambulance to Holmes Regional Hospital where she was pronounced dead.
The driver was not injured. She had three passengers, a 22-year-old man a two-year-old boy and a three-month-old girl, all from Groveland, were not injured.
The driver stayed at the scene and cooperated with law enforcement. The crash remains under investigation.
