Leesburg Electric is preparing for a “major impact” from Hurricane Milton and crews will be dispatched immediately as weather permits.
However, the city has warned that resources have been stretched thin by Hurricane Helene, which hit two weeks ago. Leesburg Electric is advising customers that ongoing Hurricane Helene restoration efforts could in turn impact the city’s restoration efforts.
“All electric utilities, including the state’s IOU’s (FPL, Duke and TECO) as well as the cooperatives may not have the resources typically available in Florida,” the City of Leesburg said in a release issued Tuesday.
