Lake County Transit has announced route changes, including changes to the route serving riders traveling from Leesburg to The Villages Route 1A.
The route will be extended north to Walmart in Summerfield, with stops only at UF Healthâs Spanish Plaines Hospital and Walmart on the Northbound and Southbound trips of the route extension. The Southbound route will continue to stop at the Spanish Springs âtrain stationâ stop and then return to U.S. Hwy. 27/441. Simultaneously, the remainder of the bus stops on the feeder road in Spanish Springs will be moved to U.S. Hwy. 27/441 and reduced by one stop.
Other route changes are as follows:
27 Xpress Commuter Route:Â LakeXpress will now connect Leesburgâs Citizens Boulevard Transfer Station to Clermontâs Park and Ride Transfer Station, with stops within the Christopher C. Ford Commerce Park in Groveland. This new route will also link LakeXpressâ North and South County routes, allowing seamless travel throughout Lake County and beyond, connecting with LYNX in Orange County and Citrus Connection in Polk County. The service will operate on weekdays during morning and afternoon commuter hours.
South Lake Xpress Commuter Route:Â This weekday commuter routeâs morning hours have been adjusted to begin and end one hour later; the afternoon times remain unchanged. This route connects Clermontâs Park and Ride transfer station with Route 55 in Four Corners, where LakeXpress customers may transfer to LYNX in Orange County or Citrus Connection in Polk County.
