On the evening of Friday, Sept. 13, an officer with the Eustis Police Department was dispatched to a battery complaint near Save A Lot, located at 332 W. Adrice Ave., according to an affidavit of probable cause out of Lake County.

Upon arrival, the officer met with a female victim who advised that her boyfriend, 21-year-old Barry Micheal Greene, got upset because she was out with friends. He threw a pizza box across their hotel room, prompting her to say she was leaving. She did not want to argue with him and wanted to wait for him to calm down, the affidavit said.

Greene pushed the victim on the bed and blocked the front door so she could not leave. She was finally able to get out of the hotel room by forcing herself past him. She then ran to the sidewalk of Moose Lodge, located at 1901 Titcomb St., the affidavit said.

Once there, Greene caught up to the victim, took her cell phone away and smashed it on the ground so she would not be able to contact anyone. He demanded she come back with him to the hotel room, but she told him no. He became more upset with her and hit her in the face with the open palm of his hand, causing her lip to bleed, the affidavit said.

The victim started running again and made her way to the nursing home at 353 W. Ardice Ave. Greene caught up with her once more, grabbed her by the back of her sports bra and tried to pull her down to the ground. She pushed him off and was able to call a male friend from another cell phone she had. Once the victim did this, Greene left the area, the affidavit said.

The officer proceeded to speak with the victim’s friend who advised that the victim did call him to come pick her up in the Big Lots’ parking lot. While driving to meet her, he saw her near Save A Lot at 332 W. Ardice Drive and picked her up there. She told him what happened, and he called 911, the affidavit said.

The victim later stated she was one month pregnant, which Greene was aware of because she took a pregnancy test and showed it to him, the affidavit said.

Greene ultimately turned himself in to Lake County Jail on Monday afternoon for two warrants charging him with aggravated battery on pregnant female (domestic). Bond was set at $10,000.
