Lake County has announced the appointment of two of its commissioners, Commissioner Sean Parks and Commissioner Douglas Shields, to key committees within the Florida Association of Counties (FAC) for the 2024-2025 term.
Commissioner Sean Parks has been selected to serve on both the Water & Environmental Sustainability Committee and the Community and Urban Affairs Committee. The Community and Urban Affairs Committee focuses on policies that impact urban development, housing, and local government operations, while the Water & Environmental Sustainability Committee focuses on preserving Florida’s natural water resources and promoting conservation throughout the state.
“Protecting Florida’s natural resources and ensuring our communities have the support they need are both vital to our future,” said Commissioner Parks. “I look forward to collaborating with fellow commissioners to develop strategies that will ensure the sustainability of our environment and the success of our residents.”
Commissioner Douglas Shields has been appointed to the Community & Urban Affairs Committee and has also been chosen for the Future Technology Committee. The Future Technology Committee addresses the integration of emerging technologies in county governance.
“It’s an honor to be part of the conversations shaping the future of our communities and leveraging technology to improve government services,” said Commissioner Shields. “I am committed to ensuring that Lake County stays ahead in these vital areas.”
Their participation in these FAC committees help ensure that Lake County’s interests are well-represented at the state level. The Florida Association of Counties serves as a united voice for Florida’s 67 counties, advocating for their interests before the state government and promoting best practices in county governance. Through these appointments, Lake County continues to be a leader in shaping policies that have a lasting impact on the lives of Floridians.
