An officer responded to a possible physical altercation at an undisclosed Mount Dora residence around 2:51 a.m. Friday, according to an arrest report from the Mount Dora Police Department.

Upon arrival, the officer met with the male victim who provided a sworn written statement advising that he argued with his wife, 44-year-old Jennica Dawn Maxfield. He had a few alcoholic drinks with her because they were celebrating their anniversary. They had been together for about 10 years, the report said.

Once the argument escalated, Maxfield punched the victim two times in the stomach area. She then left the living room where it happened and began walking toward an undisclosed location. The victim called the MDPD because he was concerned for her safety as she left barefoot in a black dress with no cell phone, the report said.

The victim got into his car, left the house and went looking for Maxfield. He saw her near Liberty Avenue and stepped out to convince her to return to the house. He hugged her, but she pushed him away with both hands, causing them both to fall to the ground. At that point, the victim returned to the house, the report said.

The victim further advised that this was not the first time Maxfield had battered him. She also did it around June, but he did not report it to the police. He was then given a victim’s rights pamphlet, the report said.

While speaking to the victim, the officer noticed he had grass on several parts of his body. This indicated that at some point during the argument, he did in fact fall to the ground with Maxfield. The officer did not notice any injuries to the victim, so no pictures were taken, the report said.

Maxfield walked back to the house and closed the door as the officer interviewed the victim. He gave the victim an affidavit to fill out and approached the front door to try to talk to Maxfield. He identified himself as an officer before giving clear commands to her that he needed to talk to her about the incident with the victim, the report said.

After a few attempts, Maxfield did not come out of the house. Another officer arrived on scene, and after briefing him on the situation, both officers went intisde the house in an attempt to find her. The victim gave consent for them to go inside the house, the report said.

The officers announced their presence and were able to find Maxfield inside the bathroom. An officer explained to Maxfield that he needed to talk to her about the incident between her and the victim, the report said.

Maxfield only stated she got into an argument with the victim and left the house to cool off. The victim followed her, and a scuffle happened because he tried to force her inside his car to return to the house, the report said.

Based on the victim’s statement and the inconsistency of the verbal and written statements of Maxfield, she was determined to be the primary aggressor and arrested on charge of simple battery (domestic). The native of Canada was transported to Lake County Jail with bond set at $1,000.
