A Lake County sheriff’s deputy has been killed in an ambush attack at a home filled with guns.

Master Deputy Sheriff Bradley Michael Link was killed Friday night when responding to a call in Eustis. Two other deputies were injured. They initially responded to a call about a disturbance at one home, but were directed to another home. After the deputies entered the second home, they were ambushed and shot. The SWAT team was called in after the ambush and two suspects were found dead.

Sheriff Peyton Grinnell said multiple firearms were found in the home in the wake of the attack.

Master Deputy Link, 28, first became part of the Lake County Sheriff’s Office as a young Explorer. A graduate of Lake Minneola High School, he served in the Army Reserves prior to being hired as a deputy sheriff by the Polk County Sheriff’s Office in 2017. In October 2019, he joined the Lake County Sheriff’s Office.

He is survived by his wife Brittany and his parents.

Sheriff Grinnell said Link, “touched the lives of all who were blessed enough to work with him; his contributions and the impact of this loss will not soon be forgotten.”

The incident is being investigated by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement.
