A Leesburg man has been arrested on a warrant charging him with battering his mother and the mother of his children.
On May 24, a female victim tried to de-escalate a verbal altercation between her son, 44-year-old Matthew Parrish, and the second female victim, the mother of Parrish’s child, according to an affidavit of probable cause out of Lake County. The second victim was inside the residence she and Parrish shared gathering some of her belongings to leave for a while because Parrish was taking narcotics.
While Parrish was being belligerent, he put his hands around the first victim’s head and squeezed extremely tight before throwing her to the ground. He then grabbed the second victim by the front of her shoulders and squeezed tight while yelling in her face, the affidavit said.
Deputies at the scene were able to observe red marks on the first and second victims, which were consistent with the statements they provided. They completed and signed sworn affidavits. However, deputies were unable to find Parrish at that point due to him fleeing the scene before their arrival, the affidavit said.
Additionally, Parrish has a prior battery conviction, the affidavit said.
Parrish was ultimately arrested this past week by the Eustis Police Department. He was brought into Lake County Jail on a Lake County warrant charging him with two counts of felony battery. He was released from jail after posting $5,000 bond.
