A Leesburg man who was arrested for drug possession during a traffic stop was found to have hidden more drugs in his rectum.
A deputy observed a silver Chrysler Sebring traveling in Leesburg with an expired tag around 2:40 p.m. Sunday, according to an arrest report from the Lake County Sheriff’s Office.
A traffic stop was conducted at the intersection of Pine Street and Oak Avenue. The deputy explained to the female driver and male passenger, later identified as 33-year-old Levy Allen Greco, that the tag expired on Dec. 2, the report said.
While speaking with the driver, the deputy asked if she would consent to a search of the vehicle, which she did. She and Greco both got out of the vehicle. Another deputy pulled a loose plastic bag from the center console, causing a clear plastic baggie containing a white powdery substance to fall onto the passenger floorboard, the report said.
At that time, both the driver and Greco were detained while the substance tested positive for methamphetamine. Greco asked what the substance was and advised he would “take the charge” for it. He also stated he does not use methamphetamine and only uses fentanyl, the report said.
Due to the substance being found on the passenger side where Greco was sitting and him stating he would take the charge, he was placed under arrest. No other substance was found inside the vehicle, so the driver was released with a verbal warning, the report said.
The deputy asked Greco before heading to the Lake County Jail if he had anything else either on or in him to which he replied he did not. He was subsequently taken to jail and turned over to correction officers, the report said.
A short time later, the deputy was called into the showers at the intake area where a small green baggie containing a powder-like substance and three aluminum foil wrappers were presented to him. He was told these items came from Greco’s rectum area when he began changing. Greco advised the substance was fentanyl, and the aluminum foil wrapping was from when he smoked it last, the report said.
Greco was ultimately charged with possession of methamphetamine, fentanyl and drug paraphernalia and introduction of contraband into detention facility. Bond was set at $7,000.
