Three people have been killed in a crash involving a sport utility vehicle and a dump truck in Lake County
The crash occurred at 1:59 p.m. Tuesday on County 33 and Bridges Road in Groveland, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
A 47-year-old Grand Island man was driving a 2018 Ford Explorer east on Bridges Road when he pulled into the direct path of the dump truck, driven by a 63-year-old man from Mount Vernon, Maine. Both vehicles ran off the road as a result of the collision and into the treeline.
The driver of the Ford Explorer was pronounced dead at the scene as were his two passengers, a 35-year-old Longwood woman and a 32-year-old Orlando woman.
The dump truck driver was not seriously injured and remained at the scene during the investigation.
