Lake County is taking steps to remove mold which has been found in a fire station.
Mold was found in Lake County Fire Rescue Station 72 located east of Leesburg on County Road 44. The county has issued a call for sealed bids to mold removal companies.

Contractors will examine the fire station to determine where the mold is located. Mold requires access to water in order to grow so finding the source of the moisture will be the first step in eradicating the mold.
In 2012, Lake County spent $180,000 to address mold and improve the air conditioning in two fire stations. While the two stations were being, cleaned fire crews lived in trailers located nearby. When mold was found at three Leesburg fire stations in 2019 the city paid $100,000 for the abatement and removal procedure.
Bids for the Station 72 project must be submitted by Dec. 13.
