Ashley’s House will be a 4,000-square-foot home for women veterans who need a safe place to transition to civilian life. It’s being built by the Villagers for Veterans organization and Habitat for Humanity of Lake-Sumter. Groundbreaking took place Jan. 15 on Grove Street in Eustis.
The project is dedicated to the memory of First Lieutenant Ashley White-Stumpf, who was killed in October 2011 by an improvised explosive device during combat operations in Afghanistan.
