A pregnant woman was arrested after she and two other people allegedly hit her on-and-off boyfriend with a stick.
Renisha Annette Wallace, 33, was charged with simple domestic battery (one prior conviction) after the incident, which happened the morning of Aug. 13 at an undisclosed location in Leesburg. Interviewed by police in the parking lot of UF Health Hospital, 600 E. Dixie Ave., Wallace refused to say what happened, according to an arrest report from the Leesburg Police Department.
A witness approached officers at the scene and said she came out of her residence and saw Wallace walking with the male victim. The witness said Wallace picked up a stick and struck the victim, as did her sister, the report said.
The witness said another man joined the altercation and struck the victim, as well. After seeing this, the witness notified law enforcement, according to the report.
Officers then met with the victim, who became uncooperative, refused to pursue charges, and refused to explain what occurred. However, the officers were able to observe a welt about an inch long on his left hip, the report said.
One of the officers had prior encounters with both Wallace and the victim. He knew Wallace to be about five months pregnant but was unsure if the victim or another male was the father. Also, she and the victim were in an on and off intimate relationship, the report said.
A check revealed that she had one prior battery conviction from June 2013, the report said. She was also arrested last year after starting a fight with another woman she accused of talking to a man.
Wallace was subsequently arrested and taken to the Lake County Jail, where she was released after posting $1,000 bond.
