A Sorrento man was drunk and had a drug pipe in his car when he was pulled over for speeding at Starbuck’s in Leesburg.

Riley Marshall Stone, 26, was charged with DUI and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was driving a grey Toyota on U.S. Highway 441 near Lakes Boulevard at around 11:45 p.m. Friday when an officer paced him going 66 mph in a 45-mph zone, according to an arrest report from the Leesburg Police Department.

The officer initiated a traffic stop and both parties came to rest in the Starbucks parking lot, located at 10670 U.S. Hwy. 441. When explaining the reason for the stop, the officer noticed Stone’s bloodshot eyes and the distinct odor of alcoholic beverages on his breath as he spoke, the report said.

Another officer arrived on scene and questioned Stone’s drug history. Stone admitted to having a “weed pipe” in the vehicle before retrieving it from the driver’s door pocket and handing it to the officer. Burnt marijuana residue was inside the pipe, but Stone did not have a medical marijuana card, according to the report.

Due to Stone being in possession of the pipe, a vehicle search was conducted. A broken straight glass pipe with an unknown residue and a bundle of bronze Brillo frequently used for smoking narcotics was found in the storage area of the driver’s side door. An open container of Miller Lite beer was found under the passenger seat, as well, the report said.

As a result of these discoveries, Stone was searched. He was asked to remove his boots, during which a pink baggie fell out of his shoe. He tried to hide this under his foot. When asked to remove his foot, Stone advised the baggie previously contained cocaine. Inside the baggie was a white crystallized residue. However, there was not enough inside to charge Stone with cocaine possession, according to the report.

Stone was subsequently placed under arrest. His eyes were checked to see if he was fit to drive, which helped the officers determine that Stone was potentially under the influence of alcohol. He later admitted to drinking 4-5 beers at his sister’s house that night. This was supported by breath test results of .123 and .117, the report said.

In addition to the DUI and paraphernalia charges, the Alabama native was also issued a citation for speeding. Stone was taken to the Lake County Jail and released after posting $2,000 bond. A court date has been set for Aug. 22.
