A Eustis man is accused of exposing himself and masturbating in front of an 8-year-old girl at a Eustis laundromat.

Jeremy Anton Jones, 28, of 907 E. Orange Ave., was charged with lewd and lascivious exhibition of a sexual organ after the incident, which happened shortly before midnight Saturday at the Spin City Laundry at 320 Ardice Ave. The girl’s parents told a Eustis police officer they observed a tall black male masturbating while looking at their daughter in the laundromat, according to the arrest report.

The girl’s father said he was sitting in his vehicle in the parking lot while his wife and daughter were in the laundromat. He said his daughter was standing at a vending machine when he saw the man – later identified as Jones – wearing a blue hoody and sweatpants sitting directly across from her. He said the man’s pants were down and he seemed to be masturbating while he was looking at the child, the report said.

The girl’s father said he went into the laundromat and confronted Jones. He said he shouted, which got the girl’s mother’s attention, and she also observed Jones staring at their daughter while masturbating. After being confronted, Jones left the area and walked towards Bay Street. The girl’s mother said her daughter never saw what happened, according to the report.

As the officer was leaving the laundromat, he responded to a call at the RaceTrac at 2850 S. Bay St. in response to a black male in a dark hoodie exposing himself. Upon arrival, the officer found Jones sitting near the north side of the gas station and detained him. Asked if he had exposed himself, Jones told the officer he did not and that a man tried to fight him at the laundromat, the report said.

A computer search showed that Jones had been trespassed from the RaceTrac in July 2021. Minutes later, the girl’s mother came to the store and positively identified Jones as the suspect, according to the report.

Jones, who was also charged with trespass after warning, is being held in the Lake County Jail on $5,500 bond and is scheduled to appear in Lake County Court on Feb. 21.
