Just two days after being released from the Lake County Jail, a 32-year-old man was arrested again for allegedly stealing an electric bicycle from the bike rack in front of Mount Dora High School.

Rodney Lorenzo Walker Jr., of 1260 Palm Drive in Mount Dora, was charged with trespassing on school grounds and theft (third or subsequent offense). Walker has 11 prior arrests since 2019, according to jail records, and he had just bonded out on Tuesday after being charged Dec. 10 with larceny/petit theft.

Mount Dora police responded Thursday morning to a theft report at the school, located at 700 N. Donnelly St. The vice principal said a man was seen stealing the electric bicycle valued at $500 from the bike rack and riding it off campus. After viewing surveillance video, an officer immediately recognized Walker from previous incidents, according to the police report.

Officers searched the area and found Walker with the bike at 1300 N. Grandview Street. He was dressed in the same clothes he was seen wearing in the video, the report said.

Walker was taken back to jail, where he’s being held on $4,000 bond. He’ll answer to the latest charges in Lake County Court on Jan. 9.
