A Leesburg woman has been arrested after allegedly burglarizing a car.
The Lake County Sheriff’s Office had been searching for 25-year-old Helen Lee Stamp since a deputy was dispatched on Nov. 6 to the 3300 block of Crestwood Avenue to investigate a car burglary and theft of tools from a car.
The deputy met with a woman who saw Stamp go into a neighbor ’s car and remove two bags. The neighbor, who knew Stamp, hollered at her and asked her what she was doing. Stamp ran into the woods. The man who owns the car told the deputy that a DeWalt electric drill, a lockout kit and a pair of sunglasses were taken from his vehicle.
Deputies canvassed the neighborhood, but were unable to find Stamp that day. A LCSO detective obtained the warrant for Stamp’s arrest and she was located and taken into custody Thursday at the intersection of County Road 44 and Emeralda Avenue. Stamp was booked at the Lake County Jail with bond set at $7,000.
