On Nov. 5, guards removed 31-year-old David R. Collins, of Mascotte, from his cell so they could search it. They also searched his person and found a clear plastic bag with a green leafy substance in his mouth. The substance tested positive for marijuana, according to the Lake County Sheriff’s Office report.

Collins is being held after his arrest on Nov. 2 on charges tampering with evidence, felony battery, assault, and possession of cocaine. The additional charge of possession of contraband in a county detention facility carries a bond of $2,000.

On Sept. 30, guards searched a cell occupied by Travis Stlarod Fenderson, 21, of Leesburg, and found a green leafy substance wrapped in a piece of paper. The substance, which tested positive for marijuana, was inside a brown paper bag with Fenderson’s name on it, the report said.

Fenderson is being held after his arrest in December 2021 for drug trafficking. The additional charge of possession of contraband in a county detention facility carries a bond of $2,000.

Collins and Fenderson will answer to the new charges in Lake County Court on Dec. 12.
