A 54-year-old Mount Dora woman admitted to police she has a serious drug problem after being caught with methamphetamine, oxycodone and marijuana during a traffic stop in Eustis on Friday.

Janice L. Taylor, of 222 N. Rossiter St., was back-seat passenger in a vehicle pulled over because a front-seat passenger wasn’t wearing a seatbelt. A Eustis police officer also observed the vehicle was also missing a passenger-side mirror before conducting the traffic stop at around 3 p.m. in front of the McDonald’s at 2800 S. Bay St.

Asked if there was anything illegal in the vehicle, the driver said no and gave permission to search it. During the search, the officer found a small backpack in the back seat where Taylor had been sitting. Inside the backpack was a small zipper-style pouch with “Paris” written on it. Inside the pouch were 15 syringes, three pipes with crystal-like residue, a small baggie with a gram of a green flowery substance consistent that tested positive for marijuana, four grams of a crystal-like substance that tested positive for meth, and a pill that was later identified as oxycodone, according to the police report.

Taylor admitted the bag belonged to her. She said she has a serious problem and needs rehab. She was charged with possession of methamphetamine, possession of a controlled substance (oxycodone), possession of less than 20 grams of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia, the report said.

Taylor was taken to the Eustis Police Department for processing before being lodged in the Lake County Jail. She’s being held on $6,000 and is due to appear in Lake County Court on June 13.
