Leesburg man dies of injuries suffered in crash on U.S. Hwy. 27

A Leesburg man has died as the result of injuries suffered in a crash on U.S. Hwy. 27 in Lake County.

The 48-year-old man had been driving a pickup truck at 6:10 a.m. Friday southbound and was stopped at a red light on U.S. Hwy. 27 at Lake Minneola Shores when he was rear-ended by a van driven by a 65-year-old woman from Clermont, according to an accident report from the Florida Highway Patrol.

He was transported to an area hospital where he died of injuries suffered in the crash.

The accident remains under investigation.
