Lake County reported 57 new COVID-19 cases Sunday, with five of those being identified in Leesburg.
Overall, Lake County is reporting 30,298 cases, with 641 deaths and 1,556 people hospitalized since the virus first hit Florida in March 2020. A total of 173,715 people have been vaccinated, with 144,482 receiving both doses.
Leesburg is now reporting 4,528 cases, which amounts to 15 percent of those reported in Lake County. Others have been identified in Clermont (8,124), Eustis (2,653), Mount Dora (2,179), Groveland (2,095), Tavares (2,068), Lady Lake (1,738), Minneola (951), Sorrento (887), Fruitland Park (859), Umatilla (785), Mascotte (629), Grand Island (384), Montverde (371), Astatula (228), Howey-in-the-Hills (227), Altoona (206), The Villages (188), Paisley (171), Astor (116), Yalaha (87), Okahumpka (58), Mount Plymouth (13) and Ferndale (9).
All told, Florida is reporting 2,292,004 COVID-19 cases – an increase of 2,482 in a 24-hour period. Of those, 2,249,210 are residents. A total of 85,537 COVID-19 cases have been reported in long-term care centers and 32,658 in correctional facilities. Across the state, there have been 36,798 deaths and 93,110 people have been hospitalized.
