A 30-year-old Leesburg man was arrested after he reportedly battered his pregnant girlfriend during an argument that started in a car and carried into a residence in Paisley.
The victim told a Lake County sheriff’s deputy early Saturday that she and Byron Lee Jackson, of Sealine Drive, left her place of employment in her vehicle and got into an argument on the way to his aunt’s house. She said she and Jackson have been in a committed relationship and lived together since January 2021 and she is pregnant with his child, according to the sheriff’s office report.
The victim said the argument turned physical when Jackson bit her arm punched her on the left side of her face, causing her jaw to feel out of place. She said she felt her jaw had shifted because she was unable to close her mouth correctly. The victim also suffered a busted lip during the incident, the report said.
The victim said when they got to Jackson’s aunt’s residence, at 45621 Cedar Street in Paisley, she said she wanted to gather her belongings and leave. She said as she was loading her car, Jackson came from behind and punched her in the back of her head. The victim said she screamed for help as Jackson continued to push her head towards the door, causing it to no longer latch correctly, according to the report.
The victim said her pinky finger got stuck in the door, causing a small cut and bruising. She said Jackson gave her keys and cell phone back to her and she drove to a nearby gas station, where she spoke with an Umatilla Police officer, who then called the sheriff’s department, the report said.
Deputies headed to the incident location and placed Jackson under arrest. He was charged with domestic battery on a pregnant victim and taken to the Lake County Jail, where he was released Monday on $10,000 bond. Jackson will appear in Lake County Court on June 1.
