Leesburg man caught with cocaine and marijuana in his vehicle

Kenneth Bernard Youmans

A Leesburg man was arrested after cocaine and marijuana were found in his vehicle recently.

At around 9 p.m., a Lake County sheriff’s deputy saw a blue Ford SUV fail to come to a complete stop at the red light at U.S. Highway 441 and County Road 473. The vehicle immediately turned into the parking lot of the shell station at the northwest corner of the intersection, according to the sheriff’s office report.

The deputy spoke with the driver and sole occupant, 30-year-old Kenneth Bernard Youmans, of 11002 Westmont Road. The deputy immediately noticed the odor of marijuana in the vehicle. Asked for his driver’s license, Youmans pulled up a picture on his phone. His social security number was used to identify him, the report said.

The deputy asked Youmans if there was anything illegal in the vehicle and he said there was some weed. A search of Youmans’ person turned up a clear plastic baggie with a white cake-like substance that appeared to be crack cocaine, according to the report.

Asked where the marijuana was, Youmans said it was in the center console. In the console, the deputy found a Crown Royal bag containing four clear plastic baggies containing a green leafy substance. Next to the Crown Royal bag was a larger clear plastic bag containing more of the green leafy substance. The substance tested positive for marijuana. A small scale with marijuana residue was also recovered, the report said.

After being read his Miranda warning, Youmans confirmed the substance in his pocket was crack cocaine. He was placed under arrest and charged with possession of crack cocaine and possession of more than 20 grams of marijuana, according to the report.

Youmans was taken to the Lake County Jail, where he was released Wednesday on $3,000 bond. Youmans will appear in Lake County Court on April 19.
