Crews from Leesburg Fire Rescue were called to a diesel fuel spill at local minimart on Monday morning.
Two engines and a battalion chief responded to the incident at the Circle K at 900 S 14th Street. Firefighters quickly discovered that about 20 gallons of diesel fuel had spilled and cleanup was required.
Lake County Fire Rescue also sent a squad and hazard materials unit to help with the cleanup effort. The Environmental Protection Agency was notified because about five gallons of the fuel had gone into a drain and into the sewer system.
A Circle K representative said the company would have a mitigation company come to the scene to deal with the issue.
