The Leesburg Boating Club collected thousands of dollars and toys for a charity event before hosting its yearly Christmas boat parade last month.
On Dec. 8, the LBC gave its annual gift to the community, “The Leesburg Christmas Boat Parade.” But they gave so much more than an evening of entertainment. That same morning, the club hosted the annual “Toys for Tots event.”
In addition to providing lunch for the participants, the boat club donated $9,452 in cash and 205 pounds of toys. The total collected for the “Toys for Tots” event was $17,057 and 8,780 pounds of toys!
That evening at the awards dinner, the LBC served 350 people dinner and gave away over $2,000 in cash and prizes to parade participants. 1st place went to Danny Barcomb. 2nd place went to Woody Brazil. 3rd place went to Pete Ramsdell. Ryan McCabe won the Viewer’s Choice Award.
All money not spent on the dinner and prizes, and money raised from the Viewer’s Choice Award will be donated to the Children’s Advocacy Center. A big “thank you” goes to the over 100 boat club members who volunteered to help make the day a success. The annual event would not be possible without the support of the following community leaders and sponsors. When you see them, please thank them for all the things they do for the community!
