A Leesburg man was arrested after allegedly pushing his ex-girlfriend into a sliding glass door during an argument at his birthday gathering.
A deputy responded to a physical altercation between two people at an undisclosed Mount Dora residence around 9 p.m. Sunday, according to an arrest report from the Lake County Sheriff’s Office.
Upon the deputy’s arrival, several Mount Dora police officers were on scene and had all parties involved separated. The deputy spoke with 45-year-old Marcus Dameioun Fuller who advised nothing happened other than a verbal argument between him and the female victim, the report said.
Fuller stated it was his birthday, so he invited his family and friends over to eat and drink alcohol. He had been drinking, and the deputy smelled the odor of alcohol coming from his breath as he spoke. Fuller went on to say the victim got upset with him over another woman calling his phone, and a verbal argument ensued, the report said.
After the verbal argument, law enforcement arrived and separated the parties. Fuller added that he and the victim had been living together for about six months and were in a relationship for about two years. The relationship ended in November, the report said.
The deputy then talked with the victim who advised that she and Fuller got into a verbal argument over another woman calling his cellphone. They were on the back patio when he began to yell at her and pushed her by her neck into the sliding glass door. She was still able to breathe when he did this, but she sustained redness on her chest and neck region, the report said.
The victim also provided footage of the incident. The camera did not capture the battery happening because of the angle, but it did get audio of the incident. The deputy heard the victim and Fuller in a verbal argument, including him telling her to get back in the house. She asked what he was going to do, shortly after which there was a banging consistent with a person being pushed into a sliding glass door, the report said.
The deputy spoke with several parties who all advised they did not see any physical altercation between Fuller or the victim. However, none of these parties were inside the residence or on the back patio when the battery happened, the report said.
Due to the victim’s statement, injuries and video footage, Fuller was arrested on charge of simple battery (domestic). He was transported to Lake County Jail with bond set at $1,000.
