A Leesburg woman was arrested for burglary after breaking into a co-worker’s house looking for her stepfather.
Officers responded to a forced burglary that just took place at an undisclosed Lake County residence around 12:01 a.m. Tuesday, according to an arrest report from the Leesburg Police Department. The victim advised that her co-worker’s daughter, later identified as 21-year-old Paige Taylor Anderson, showed up and forced her way inside of the residence before being pushed back out.
Two officers met with the victim, who refused EMS services, while another began searching the area for Anderson. The victim told the officers that at about 11:30 p.m. Monday, Anderson knocked on the front door. The victim answered the door by opening it halfway, and Anderson stated she was looking for her stepfather, the report said.
The victim informed Anderson her stepfather was not there, to which Anderson used her arm to shove the victim to the side and enter the residence. The victim told her to leave but she refused. So, the victim grabbed Anderson by her hair and shoved her to the ground, the report said.
The victim then began dragging Anderson around the house, showing her that her stepfather was not there. She guided Anderson toward the front door by her hair and shoved her outside, closing the door. Anderson ran back inside the residence only for the victim to push her back out and down the stairs, the report said.
Anderson continued walking down the stairs while cursing at the victim who informed her that she was calling the police. Anderson fled.
An officer found Anderson near South Sixth Street and Hope Street where she was detained and searched at about 12:22 a.m. She was then taken to the LPD adult booking facility. An officer could smell a very strong odor of alcohol coming from her person, and she made spontaneous statements that she was inside of the residence at the time of the occurrence, the report said.
Anderson was arrested on charge of burglary (assault or battery – forced entry). The Ohio native was transported to Lake County Jail with bond set at $10,000.
