Dennis Harlowe Lade, of Clermont, Florida, passed away peacefully on October 16, 2024 after a brief but courageous battle with cancer. He was surrounded by his loving wife, Linda, and his 3 children, Jeffrey, Michelle, and Sarah. Dennis was a very generous and wise man who was deeply loved by his many friends and family. His greatest joy in life was spending time with loved ones and being Papa to his 7 grandchildren, who will forever carry his memory in their hearts.
Dennis was born January 2, 1942, to August H. and Mabel H. Lade, nee Zieman, in Stewart, Minnesota (McLeod County). He graduated Stewart High School in 1960 and went on to GustavusAdolphus College in St. Peter, Minnesota. After graduating from Gustavus in 1964, he attended North Dakota State University in Fargo, North Dakota from which he obtained a Ph.D. degree in Plant Pathology in 1968. He was then hired by Eli Lilly and Company of Indianapolis, Indiana as an agricultural scientist and later served several positions in marketing, project management, and government regulations. The plant agricultural division later formed a joint venture with Dow Chemical Company, known as Dow AgroScience where Dennis worked as a Senior Advisor and Product Registration Manager until retirement.
Dennis married his long-time love, Linda Sue Simpson on February 14, 1985. After many years enjoying the Indianapolis area, Dennis and Linda retired to Clermont, FL in 2004. In retirement, Dennis enjoyed the fun associations with close friends in his community and especially enjoyed visiting his children and grandchildren and following their lives and activities.
Dennis was predeceased by his parents (August and Mabel (nee Zieman) Lade, and by brothers, Eugene, Terrance, Loren, Ralph, Larry, Arlen, Kim, and an unnamed stillborn baby. He is survived by his wife, Linda Sue Lade, nee Simpson; sisters, Deloris Rath of Hutchinson, MN, Marilyn Timm of Fairfax, MN, Diane Molenaar of Minnetonka, MN, Darcee Wittke of Ocala, FL, Koni Fank of Dassel, MN, and brothers Eldor Lade of Hutchinson, MN, Kenneth Lade of Powder Springs, GA, Grant Lade of Springfield, MN, and Daryl Lade of Mankato, MN.
Also surviving him are his three children by a previous marriage in 1964 to Marcia Beth Wolter, namely, Jeffrey Robert Lade and his wife Kristen Ann, nee Kociban, of Fishers, IN, Michelle Marie and her husband Christian David Mauer of Sunset Beach, NC, and Sarah Anne and her husband Bryan John Mellinger of Milton, GA; seven grandchildren, Katherine Ann and Jacob Michael Lade, Jackson David, Noelle Elizabeth, and Natalie Elise Mauer, and Victoria Reese and Anna Claire Mellinger.
