A deputy responded to a possible disturbance at 56430 Blue Creek Road in Astor at around 12 a.m. Wednesday, according to an arrest report from the Lake County Sheriff’s Office. While en route to the incident location, the deputy was told by dispatch that 40-year-old Maryluz Gonzalez initially called Volusia County but was transferred to Lake County.

Gonzalez was very rude to the dispatcher. She cursed at her and told her that she was stupid. However, she never really told the call taker what the issue was or why she called law enforcement. The call disconnected a short time later, the report said.

Another call came through Volusia County and was subsequently transferred back to the Lake County Communications Center. When the deputy got to Gonzalez, she was speaking to a Lake County call taker very disrespectfully. She then ended the call, the report said.

The deputy asked Gonzalez what the issue was, and she stated a friend, who lived at the incident location, picked her up at her residence in Volusia County and brought her to his residence in Lake County. She was there for several hours when she and her friend got into an argument, and he told her to leave, the report said.

When she left her friend’s camper, he closed and locked the door. Gonzalez explained that she left her purse inside, and he would not give it to her. The deputy tried to make contact with her friend int he camper multiple times, but he did not answer the door, the report said.

As the deputy tried contacting the friend, Gonzalez continuously yelled profanities to the extent that it caused the property owner to come out of her residence to see what was happening. Gonzalez approached her in an aggressive manner and tried to initiate a physical fight. She was secured in handcuffs at that point, the report said.

Gonzalez then claimed that her friend had possibly battered her. However, there were no signs of injury on her, the report said.

The deputy noticed Gonzalez had the distinct odor of alcoholic beverage coming from her breath, and she appeared to be highly intoxicated due to her vulgar demeanor, slurred words and glassy, bloodshot eyes. He could smell a strong odor of alcohol coming from Gonzalez as she continued with her vulgar demeanor in the patrol vehicle, the report said.

Gonzalez was arrested on charge of disorderly intoxication and transported to Lake County Jail. While there, she began causing a disturbance with her words and refusing to stay where she was being directed, hindering the booking process. Bond was set at $1,500.
