Officers responded to a battery at an undisclosed Leesburg residence at 5:27 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 14, according to an arrest report from the Leesburg Police Department. Upon arrival, they met with a woman, who was later identified as the victim, sitting on a bench in the front yard of the residence.

The victim advised that on the night of Oct. 13, her boyfriend, 36-year-old Michael Icker, battered her. They were in the bedroom of their home when he began making sexual advances at her. She declined these advances, to which he became upset and started striking her about the head, left eye and left arm, the report said.

After hitting the victim multiple times, Icker began pulling her hair and bit her right bicep. She told him to stop attacking her and that she would be calling law enforcement. He responded by pushing her onto their bed and wrapping his arm around her neck. He held his arm around her neck for about two minutes as she struggled to breathe, the report said.

Icker then released the victim from the strangle only to stand in front of the locked bedroom door and block her ability to leave. She tried to leave the bedroom multiple times throughout the night, but every attempt she made was met with negative results as Icker would physically block the locked door with his body, the report said.

While confined in the bedroom, the victim tried multiple times to use her cell phone to contact law enforcement. Icker would threaten her with more physical harm and aggressively approach her every time she tried to use her cell phone. She feared for her and her two children’s lives due to Icker’s history of anger, the report said.

The officer observed multiple injuries on the victim’s face and arms while speaking with her, and they were consistent with her account of the event. These were photographed as evidence. She also completed a sworn written statement documenting the incident and her intent to prosecute, the report said.

Icker was subsequently arrested on charges of false imprisonment (domestic), battery (domestic by strangulation), simple battery (domestic) and tamper with victim/witness (domestic). He was transported to Lake County Jail with bond set at $25,000.
