A Leesburg woman was arrested for battery after an argument in which she allegedly pulled her boyfriend’s shirt and hair.
An officer responded to a battery complaint at an undisclosed Leesburg residence around 2:01 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 4, according to an arrest report from the Leesburg Police Department. Upon arrival, he met with the female complainant.
The complainant stated she dropped off her friend, 26-year-old Carline Teico, at the residence and noticed her boyfriend, the victim, would not allow Teico inside. She continued trying to enter the residence, but he stood in the doorway and would not allow her to. Teico held onto his shirt to avoid the door closing on her, the report said.
The victim slapped Teico, and he shoved her away from the door. Both parties later went inside the residence after which the complainant contacted law enforcement, the report said.
Officers then approached the residence, and both the victim and Teico stepped out. During an interview with Teico, she advised that she went with the complainant to get drinks after work. When she got home late, the victim did not want to let her inside for that reason, the report said.
Teico admitted to becoming irate and grabbing the victim’s shirt, pulling on it. She also pulled his hair. The victim slapped her, allegedly accidentally, and she did not have any injuries, the report said.
During an interview with the victim, he stated Teico came to the residence and knocked on the door. He opened it, and she tried to walk into the residence. He did not want her there, but she continued trying to get inside despite him standing in her way, the report said.
Teico pulled on his shirt, which he ultimately shook off, and his hair. The victim admitted to slapping her in the face but advised he did so accidentally. He did not intend to harm her, just to get her away from him, the report said.
The officer observed the victim’s shirt lying on a chair in front of the residence. Strands of the victim’s red hair were also laying on the ground in front of the residence, corroborating his statement, the report said.
Additionally, the victim and Teico have been in a romantic dating relationship, have lived together as a family and have four children in common, the report said.
Teico was ultimately determined to be the primary aggressor and arrested on charge of simple battery (domestic). She was transported to Lake County Jail and released after posting $500 bond.
