A Leesburg man was arrested on drug charges when he admitted to having marijuana in a grocery bag during a traffic stop.
An officer spotted a white passenger vehicle that appeared to have illegal window tint covering the front and rear side windows while on patrol near West Main Street and Lone Oak Drive around 7:26 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 1, according to an arrest report from the Leesburg Police Department. He initiated a traffic stop as a result.
The officer approached the vehicle and met with 39-year-old Travis Levaris Littles, the driver and owner, who was the sole occupant. While speaking with him, the officer could smell the aroma of recently burnt marijuana coming from inside the vehicle. He asked Littles if he had any narcotics in the vehicle, to which he admitted he did and smoked some earlier, the report said.
Littles retrieved a yellow plastic grocery bag from the rear driver’s side floorboard and pulled out a small clear plastic bag of marijuana. As he did this, the officer observed what appeared to be a larger amount of marijuana within the grocery bag. He had Littles get out of the vehicle and detained him, the report said.
A search was then conducted with the assistance of a K-9 unit. They collected the grocery bag containing three smaller bags of marijuana and a digital scale. They also found a large amount of cash on Littles totaling $5,122, the report said.
Additionally, the window tint on the front driver’s side window measured 21%. The bags, weighing 99.7, 14.5 and 8.3 grams respectively, tested presumptive positive for marijuana, the report said.
Littles was arrested on charges of drugs (possession with intent to sell – marijuana) and drug paraphernalia (possess or use). He was transported to Lake County Jail and released after posting $3,500.
