Karen Elaine Marz, born on July 6, 1943, in Pontiac, Michigan, was the cherished only child of Kenneth Frederick Sabell and Ruth Baldwin Sabell. Karen’s life was profoundly shaped by the love of her two children, Dean Kenneth Marz (1963-1986) and Amy Lynn Marz Ross (1966-2001), and her partner of 46 years, John Clayton Tremain, who passed away earlier this year, his children, Angela Tremain Purvee and Davis Tremain and granddaughter Amber Tremain.
Karen’s formative years were brightened by the joyful moments spent with her cousins—Margaret, David, Diane, Jack, and Kathryn—on her grandparents’ farm. In the early 1970s, she moved to Denmark for a few years before settling in Florida, where she lived out the remainder of her life.
Karen’s love for animals was evident through her deep affection for her cocker spaniels, Skippy and Daisy, and her Siamese cats, Stanley and Snoops. Her hobbies included collecting red glass, thrift store shopping, and decorating her home extravagantly for every holiday on the calendar.
After 37 years of dedicated service as a bartender at the Eustis Elks Club #1578, Karen retired in 2020. She found great joy in serving the club’s members and was passionate about supporting the fundraising efforts for the Elks camp in Umatilla, which benefits children.
Karen’s legacy is one of cherished memories and enduring inspiration for all who knew her. She will be deeply missed but lovingly remembered.
