Driver seriously injured after hitting log truck driven by Leesburg man

A man driving a pickup was seriously injured when he collided with a log truck driven by a a 56-year-old Leesburg man.

The log truck had a green signal and began to accelerate at 6:50 a.m. Thursday at the intersection of State Road 50 and Emerson Road in Hernando County, when the Chevy Silverado pickup, driven by a 24-year-old Brooksville man, collided with the log truck.

The Brooksville man suffered serious injuries and was transported to an area hospital. The Leesburg man escaped injury.
