A Georgia man was arrested for allegedly pulling out a firearm and making death threats during an argument over personal issues.
A deputy responded to a complaint of a suspicious incident at an undisclosed Clermont residence around 1:59 a.m. Wednesday, according to an arrest report from the Lake County Sheriff’s Office.
Upon arrival, the deputy met with the male victim who stated he got into a verbal argument with 20-year-old Eddie Lavelle Powell over personal issues. The argument escalated between them, at which point Powell brandished a firearm. It was black and looked like the deputy’s firearm, only smaller, the report said.
Powell held the firearm outside of his clothing in the groin area. He threatened to kill the victim, stating, “wait until we get back to Atlanta (Georgia),” while having the firearm exposed. Powell then left the residence with another male and got into a dark in color newer model Camaro, the report said.
Additional Lake County units were canvassing the immediate area when they spotted a dark blue Chevrolet Camaro traveling southbound on U.S. Highway 27 and Cagans Crossing Boulevard. A felony traffic stop was conducted, after which a search revealed a fully loaded silver and black Taurus G2C 9mm within a Louis Vuitton bag, the report said.
Powell was subsequently arrested on charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon without intent to kill and improper exhibition of dangerous weapons or firearms. He was transported to Lake County Jail with bond set at $6,000.
