A deputy was dispatched to an undisclosed Fruitland Park residence regarding a battery around 12:53 p.m. July 31, according to an arrest report from the Lake County Sheriff’s Office.

Upon arrival, the deputy met with the female victim who stated that the incident began between 29-year-old Morgan Ann Oliver and her juvenile daughter. They were having an argument about going to the pool. The juvenile threw a soft pillow at Oliver who became enraged, the report said.

Oliver got behind the juvenile and began hitting her repeatedly on the back of her head with a closed fist. The juvenile retreated to her room and did not witness the remainder of the altercation. She did not have any noticeable injuries, the report said.

The victim, who is Oliver’s mother, was unhappy with the way Oliver was treating the juvenile, so she asked her to leave the property. They both proceeded to the front door of the residence. The victim was angrily telling Oliver to leave, which she physically resisted, refusing to go out the door, the report said.

Oliver then shoved the victim backwards with both hands. She sat on the arm of the couch, and a scuffle ensued. The victim admitted to placing her fingers in Olivers mouth in an attempt to pull her and lead her out the door. Oliver responded by biting the left middle finger of the victim, drawing blood. The tussle continued, sometime during which the victim received a small cut behind her left ear that was also bleeding, the report said.

The victim managed to get Oliver outside and secure the door. Oliver banged on the door, demanding the children, but the victim did not allow her to enter. Oliver then left the residence in her vehicle while the victim waited for first responders, the report said.

The victim declined medical treatment for both her and the juvenile. She informed the deputy that Oliver did not live at the incident location, but the juveniles did. She filled out a sworn affidavit of the event and indicated she was not going to seek prosecution, the report said.

With permission from the victim, the deputy spoke with the juvenile. She told the same details of the event as the victim but could not confirm how the physical altercation between Oliver and the victim played out because she retreated to her room. She was unsure about needing medical attention but was told to tell the victim if she changed her mind later, the report said.

The deputy next responded to an address given by the victim and met with Oliver outside. She was verbally hostile and used vulgar language. When she gave her account of the event, she corroborated the victim’s story. She clearly stated that she placed her hands on the victim and shoved her without the victim placing hands on her, the report said.

Oliver was determined to be the primary aggressor and arrested on charge of simple battery (domestic). She was transported to Lake County Jail and released after posting $250 bond.
