A suspect has been apprehended in a brutal slaying at a convenience store in Leesburg.
Alex Lopez, 25, was arrested Wednesday by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement/Orlando Violent Crime Task Force in the Kissimmee area.Â
He is facing charges of murder/homicide-premeditated, armed robbery, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and possessing a firearm during a felony in the shooting at the Fast Stop Superette, located at 3702 Picciola Road in Leesburg, which claimed the life of 51-year-old Raied Shihadeh, who left behind a wife and five children. He was airlifted to Ocala Regional Medical Center, where he later died.
Lopez fled the scene and surveillance images were widely circulated in an attempt to capture him.
