Officers were given a BOLO, or “be on the lookout,” from the Lady Lake Police Department regarding a hit-and-run suspect vehicle traveling southbound on U.S. Highway 27/441 toward Fruitland Park around 8:13 p.m. Saturday, according to an arrest report from the Fruitland Park Police Department. The vehicle was described as a red Ford Ranger with a gold tailgate on the back and an expired Florida tag.

About three minutes later, an officer spotted the suspect vehicle, later found to be driven by 55-year-old Curtis Adam Hahn, passing Beam Street with no headlights. The officer positioned his patrol vehicle behind the truck, but before he could activate his emergency lights, the vehicle changed lanes and turned into the parking lot of 3430 U.S. Hwy. 27/441. He then initiated a traffic stop, the report said.

The officer approached Hahn and asked for his driver’s license, to which he handed over an ID card. A check confirmed that the tag attached to the vehicle was expired as of May 3. Hahn was subsequently asked to step out of the vehicle and detained in handcuffs for further investigation, the report said.

An additional driving history check revealed that Hahn only had a Florida ID and his driver’s license had been revoked on April 27, 1990, for DUI as a habitual traffic offender. Further investigation showed he had nine suspensions from 1988 to 2019 and three DUIs from 1998 to 2002, the report said.

Due to the totality of the circumstances, Hahn was placed under arrest for driving while license revoked for habitual traffic offender. He was transported to Lake County Jail with bond set at $10,000.
