Leesburg – Jerry Wayne Chamlee, 74, of Leesburg, Florida, passed away on April 2, 2024. He was born on December 19, 1949, in Evansville, Indiana.

Jerry was a compassionate individual who always stood up for the underdog, advocating for their rights. He had a keen intellect, especially when it came to mechanical things.

In his career, Jerry held his Indiana plumbing license and HVAC certification. He completed a 5-year apprenticeship with the local 136 plumber and steamfitter, 50 year member , showcasing his dedication and expertise in the field.

Outside of work, Jerry found joy in the outdoors through boating, camping, fishing, and traveling. These hobbies allowed him to appreciate the beauty of nature and create lasting memories.

He is survived by his partner of 45 years, Donald Shoemaker, sister Diane (Gene) Higginson, brothers Ernie (Tina) Chamlee, Mike Chamlee, sister-in-laws Ruth Wilkins, Jerry Chamlee, nieces, and nephews. Jerry was preceded in death by his father and mother, Douglas and Mattie Chamlee, brothers Tony Chamlee and Terry Chamlee.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at a later date to honor Jerry’s memory. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the local Humane Society in his name. Jerry will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
