A South Carolina woman was airlifted from the scene of a crash Friday afternoon in which she made a U-turn in front of a Mack truck.

The 60-year-old Walhalla, S.C. woman was driving a Toyota Sienna traveling eastbound on County Road 470 at 2:33 p.m., according to an accident report from the Florida Highway Patrol. 

While approaching Bedrock Resources Limerock Mine located at 4289 East County Road 470, the woman entered a right turn lane, then abruptly attempted a U-Turn and traveled back into the path the Mack truck, driven by a 50-year-old Leesburg man, who was also traveling eastbound on County Road 470. As a result, the front of the Toyota Sienna collided with the left side of the Mack truck. The woman suffered serious injuries and was airlifted to an area hospital while the driver of the Mack truck was uninjured.
