A deputy responded to 33542 County Road 473 in Leesburg regarding the possible location of a missing person that was seen around 11:22 p.m. Thursday, according to an arrest report from the Lake County Sheriff’s Office. The complainant advised that her client, 49-year-old Jamie Dusso, had been missing since Monday but was seen walking in the area wearing all black.

The deputy canvassed the area for Dusso, during which he noticed a tall unknown man walked in the area of South Haines Creek Road and Circle Way. At the sight of law enforcement, he pulled something from the left pocket of his hoodie sweatshirt and dropped it behind a small bush by the roadway. The deputy then informed other deputies on scene that Dusso dropped something as they got out of their vehicles, the report said.

Dusso stated that he did not drop anything and that he was just pulling his hands out of his pockets, but he was still detained. The deputy walked over to where he saw Dusso drop something and found a small black and red bag laying behind a bush on the roadway. Inside was a glass smoking device and a small clear plastic baggie containing a crystal-like substance. The deputy read Dusso his rights and asked him to be honest about if the bag was his, to which he said “no,” the report said.

While on scene, it was learned that Dusso held an active Sumter County warrant for violating probation on a felony possession of methamphetamine charge. Additionally, the crystal-like substance tested positive for methamphetamine, the report said.

The North Carolina native was charged with possession of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia. He was transported to Lake County Jail with bond set at $3,500.
