An officer on patrol near Publix, located at 717 N. 14th Street, noticed 44-year-old Kenneth Eugene Hicks sitting next to the front doors across from a “No Loitering” sign around 2:45 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 13, according to an arrest report from the Leesburg Police Department.

The officer approached Hicks and introduced himself as an LPD officer. He then explained the property representative had previously asked that people caught loitering be trespassed from the area, the report said.

Hicks was identified through his ID, which was passed onto LPD. The officer learned Hicks was trespassed from the property in a prior case from Jan. 19, 2019. He told Hicks this discovery who stated that he believed it was only a warning, the report said.

Hicks was subsequently arrested on charge of trespass after warning. He was transported to the Lake County Jail and agreed to be sentenced rather than pay a bond.
