Beginning Monday, Feb. 12, the portion of the Hancock Trail between Highland Ranch and Jim Hunt Road will be closed for 21 days while a new turn lane is constructed. For safety, trail users are asked to obey posted signage and consider using other portions of the South Lake and Hancock Trail during this time.
The 6.5-mile Hancock Trail, centered in Clermont, runs along North Hancock Road from near the National Training Center at South Lake Hospital to County Road 561A. The wide, paved path with long sand ridge hills is popular with road bikers – an excellent training ride. It also passes several schools and residential areas. The trail connects with the South Lake Trail which is part of the Florida Coast-to-Coast Trail, creating many miles of continuous biking.
Residents with any questions or concerns about the project may contact the Lake County Office of Parks & Trails at
