James Tavernier

James “Jim” Tavernier, 58, of Leesburg, Florida, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Jan. 27, 2024, after a 27-month fight with cancer.

Born Aug. 22, 1965, Jim was a loving and sarcastic individual, known for his goofiness and youthful spirit. He cherished time spent with his family and had a special place in his heart for children.

Jim is survived by his parents, Leonard and Mary; his siblings, Jeff (Mary), Tim (Jessica) and Sabina; his children, Tabitha (Arthur), Rebekah, Aaron, Monica, Isabella, Brittany and Cody; his grandchildren, Corey, Ariana, Lee, Braidyn, Alayna and Isaac; as well as his great-grandchild Dawson. He was also in a loving relationship with his girlfriend, Debbie.

Jim had a passion for bowling, softball, coaching kids sports and spending time with his family. He also enjoyed activities such as watching Notre Dame games or anything to do with cars.

Friends and family are invited to a visitation on Friday, Feb. 9, from 4 to 6 p.m., followed by a small service at Granger Community Church Elkhart, 2701 E. Bristol St., Elkhart, Indiana.
