Earlagene Dobbs Olson “Jeannie” devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, 90, died on September 19, 2023 at her sister Jewell Register’s home in Lake City, Florida with family and friends at her side. Jeannie was born in Raiford Union County on September 10, 1933 to Earl Dobbs & Maybelle Freeman Dobbs.

She graduated from Union County High School on May 25, 1953. She married Robert L. Murphy, US Navy Reserve Green Cove Springs, later she married Leonard Jefferson Mikell and were blessed with three sons Bruce, Randy and Mason Mikell. Later she found true love when she met Terrance E. Olson and they married on January 26, 1983 until he died on July 31, 2022, 39 years later.

Jeannie proved to be a strong woman throughout her life, she raised three boys and in 1988 she saw a job in code enforcement for the city council which she took and served as the only woman on the city council and was elected president in 1990. She also served the city of Umatilla, Florida as Mayor.

She is survived by her sons Bruce (Laurie) Mikell, Mason (Sharon) Mikell, Eric (Tammy) Olson, Jerry (Nuji) Olson, daughter-in-law Cindy Mikell, daughter Terry Lee, grandchildren Shannon Thomas, Shaunna (Jim) Knierim, Jason (Jane) Mikell, Amy (Jay) Lewis, Mason Mikell, Erica (Bobby) McNamee, Nikki (Vince) Bonbause, Justin Olson, Jared Olson, Gemma (Greg) Rolants, great-grandchildren Jesse & Kaleigh Thomas, Austin & Aubrey Knierim, Tucker & Braxton Mikell, Mason & Troy Mikell, James, Justin, and Ella Lewis, Marissa McNamee, Aaron Aayden, Lyrik, Jewel, Emma Faith, Trevor Tatum, Colten, great-great-grandchild Sheyla Davis, sisters Joann Griffis, Janell Register, Treva Newmans, Beth Reynolds, Marty Norman, daughter-in-law Margie Dobbs, Anna; a very special lady for over 18 years, she was a devoted caregiver and according to Jeannie, her sister. Rosa Erier, Shannon, Jason & Jane, Cindy, Marty, Tammy, Jerry, Caroline a helpful neighbor, Fritz & wife for upkeep with her yard, and the Gonzales boys for mowing the lawn & garden maintenance. We apologize to anyone who was inadvertently left out.

A visitation will be held on Friday, September 29 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Beyers Funeral Home in Umatilla Florida, 279 S. Central Ave, a celebration of life will be held the following day, Saturday, September 30, 11:00 AM at the First Baptist Church of Umatilla. After the service we will line up with headlights on; in procession to Glendale Cemetery then return to the church for lunch & fellowship at 12:30 PM.
